Students from grades IIAB, IIIA and IVA visited the Lower Silesian Film Centre (Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe) to watch the film adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s The Doll (Lalka) and take part in workshops exploring one of the most famous Polish novels and its screen adaptation.

They discussed literary themes, the portrayal of characters on screen and the ways in which a director interprets the original text. They also reflected on the novel’s message and why the issues and dilemmas it explores remain relevant today.

The visit offered an opportunity to approach a classic of Polish literature from a different perspective and to explore how a story changes when it moves from the page to the screen.
