IB Evaluation Visit Concludes at the International High School in Wrocław

A three-day evaluation visit by representatives of the International Baccalaureate Organization has recently concluded at the International High School in Wrocław. It was a time of intensive meetings, classroom observations and conversations, during which the evaluators looked closely – always with great openness and goodwill – at our daily work and the way our school community functions.

During the visit, the evaluators met with representatives of all groups that make up our school community, including:

  • the Foundation of International Education (our governing body) Board and Management
  • heads of schools
  • IB programmes’ coordinators
  • teachers
  • students
  • parents

These meetings allowed the visitors to see the school from many perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of how our community works.

Key findings from the IB evaluation at IHSW:

  1. One of the most important conclusions was the confirmation that our schools’ identity is clearly shaped by the IB philosophy. The evaluators highlighted the strong coherence between the two programmes implemented at our school: the IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme. Shared values, a consistent approach to teaching and learning, and a common educational vision create a unified environment in which students can grow and develop continuously at each stage of their education.
  2. The evaluators also noted the student-centred culture of our school. Students feel that their voices matter and that their needs are acknowledged and respected. The report also emphasized the healthy, supportive relationships between students and teachers, which foster trust, openness and a strong sense of safety within the school community.
  3. Another important strength highlighted during the visit was the healthy learning environment, both in terms of relationships and physical spaces. The evaluators appreciated our well-designed classrooms, science laboratories, library, and learning resources, as well as spaces dedicated to independent study, collaboration and relaxation. They also recognized our commitment to sustainability, including environmentally responsible investments such as solar panel installations and other eco-friendly solutions.
  4. The evaluation also pointed to the school’s strong emphasis on developing students’ independence in learning, in line with the IB Approaches to Learning framework. Students actively build skills such as planning their work, critical thinking, collaboration and reflecting on their own learning processes.
  5. Particularly noteworthy was our feedback culture, which the evaluators described as one of the school’s distinguishing strengths among IB schools. Students regularly receive detailed feedback on their progress, allowing them to clearly understand their strengths and identify areas for improvement. This supports continuous development and helps students steadily improve their performance in specific areas.

In the coming weeks, we will receive the full evaluation report, which will provide valuable guidance for our further development and planning in the years ahead. The next accreditation visit is scheduled in five years.

We would like to thank all members of our community—students, teachers, parents and the leadership team—for their dedication and shared effort. Together, we are proud to be building a school that meets the global standards of modern education. 🌍📚
