As part of the extended curriculum in “Plants and Plant Physiology”, students from grades 2 and 3 took part in a unique practical workshop that combined theory with hands-on experience and observation.

At the beginning of the lesson, students learned how to correctly write species names in Latin and practiced identifying houseplants using the PictureThis app. Each student selected a plant, identified it in both Polish and Latin, and then prepared a personalized care guide, taking into account light requirements, watering needs, and soil type.

The next step involved repotting the plants into either bark or coconut fiber substrate. This allowed students to observe firsthand the differences in substrate structure and understand their importance for plant health.

All plants were then placed in the school’s greenhouse, where students will care for them until the end of the school year. This project offers a valuable opportunity to develop consistency, responsibility, and a closer connection with nature.

We’re proud of our students’ dedication and look forward to seeing how their green companions thrive!
