Brain Awareness Week 2025 – Celebrating Neurodiversity at International High School of Wroclaw

We are excited to announce that the XI edition of Brain Awareness Week (BAW) will take place at FIE schools starting from March 10, 2025. This international initiative aims to promote knowledge about the brain and its remarkable diversity.

This year, we will focus on neurodiversity – exploring how our brains function in unique ways, how cognitive diversity impacts learning processes, and how we can create a more inclusive environment for everyone.

BAW 2025 Event Highlights

Monday – Thinkers & Inquirers

  • Introduction to Brain Awareness Week: What is diversity and neurodiversity?
  • Poetry recital combined with a photo exhibition “Children on A” (More about the exhibition on Radio Wrocław’s website).

Tuesday – Open-minded & Caring

  • Student workshop with Olga Woj: “Communication Bridge – Brain in Action” – experiments on communication and empathy.
  • Teacher workshop with Olga Woj: “How to Teach in a Group Where Everyone Learns Differently?” – neurodidactic strategies for inclusive teaching.
  • Neuro Futures Game – how will technological advancements impact the future of the brain?
  • Simulation games in the school library.

Wednesday – Communicators & Knowledgeable

  • Mind mapping for curious and neurodiverse learners – creative learning techniques using Obsidian software.
  • “Learner Profile – Superpowers in the Classroom” – discovering individual talents through creative activities.
  • Student project presentations.
  • Relaxation room in the library – a space for quiet and mindfulness.

Thursday – Risk-taker & Balanced

  • Workshop: “Cluttered Brain vs Green Brain” – how the environment affects brain health.
  • Neurodiversity Quiz – test your knowledge!
  • Simulation games in the library.

Friday – Principled & Reflective

  • Exhibition: “NEURO (the same, yet different) IN CULTURE” – art, books, and films exploring neurodiversity.
  • Art projects inspired by the book “Mona Mouse” – how different artists perceive the world.
