IB Polish Teachers Meet in Wrocław – Methodology Workshops at IHSW
On the last weekend of September (26–27 September 2025), methodology workshops for Polish language teachers working within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) were held at our school. The event was organized by the Foundation of International Education and the International High School of Wrocław, under the patronage of the Association of IB Schools in Poland.
The goal of the meeting was to enhance teaching skills, exchange experiences, and deepen understanding of IB DP requirements. Participants took part in five thematic sessions focused on, among other topics, working with text extracts in the exam context (Individual Oral, Paper 1, Paper 2), integrating Theory of Knowledge elements into literature lessons, and preparing students for the IB Literature course.
The workshops were led by:
- Dr Agata Wójtowicz-Stefańska – Polish language teacher, IB examiner, and author of academic and educational publications,
- Dr Agnieszka Szafarska-Kowalczyk – literary scholar, mentor, and expert in international education,
- and Polish teachers from the International High School of Wrocław: Karolina Kropielnicka and Dr Magdalena Dąbrowska-Banyś.
The programme also included an integrative element – a literary walk around Wrocław, giving participants the opportunity to discover the city from a new, artistic perspective.
Excellent Feedback from Participants and Presenters
According to the evaluation survey, the workshops received enthusiastic feedback. Participants praised both the high academic quality of the sessions and the excellent organization and friendly atmosphere. Comments included:
“I have never attended such perfectly organized workshops.”
“Wonderful venue, great organization, and amazing atmosphere!”
“It was fantastic – thank you for the inspiration, professionalism, and all the hard work!”
The presenters also expressed their appreciation for the organizers, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of Karolina Kropielnicka, the event coordinator, and Magdalena Dąbrowska-Banyś, co-organizer of the workshops.
Everything was arranged to perfection, with great attention to every detail – from logistics and communication with participants to the welcoming atmosphere. We truly felt supported throughout.
Building the IB Teachers’ Community in Poland
As Karolina Kropielnicka emphasized:
The greatest value of these workshops is that we learn from each other. I believe that such meetings strengthen our IB schools’ community in Poland, give teachers wings, and ultimately contribute to our students’ success in the IB Diploma Programme.
Both the organizers and participants expressed hope that IB Polish teachers’ meetings in Wrocław will become a tradition, creating space for continued collaboration, inspiration, and shared professional growth.
